“Bye Bye Macadam” = bye bye highways = bye bye concrete = Bye Bye western City’s skyscrapers ! May this track of RONE´s sophomore album be referring to his own exodus from Paris to Berlin ? Or does Rone hint at the approaching end of world? It's over and that the fat lady has sung.
Well, one thing is certain, the hypnotic loop of the track remixed by JUAN ATKINS, AQUARIAN and PLANkT takes us far away from city-dwellers daily issues.
On the A-Side, Juan Atkins strikes hard with an armada of analogical synthesisers and “UFO-landing”`s noises. After all those years, the Godfather of Detroit Techno has not lost one iota of his exquisite talent. On the flip side, Toronto-based producer Aquarian (on the UNO NYC imprint) transfuses Ostgut-like clinical techno coldness to Rone´s warm-hearted musical soundscape. Club banger par excellence ! More introspective, the remix of PLANkT (whose background is as mysterious as the spelling of his name) evokes the distorted and pastoral Techno of Luke Abbott and leaves its listener with a smile on the face and a head in the stars.
